125cc Standard Test (A2 or Restricted Licence)
This is a course you take on one of our 125cc
machines. Once you pass your test this allows you to ride any size of bike provided it is limited to
33bhp for the first two years after passing. After the two years have elapsed
you can ride any power machine without taking a further test (or even sending
your licence off!).
If you are under 21 this is the only
full course open to you.
So, you could pass your test
on the same size bike that you use for your CBT and then get yourself a
'big bike' (e.g. a 600cc machine), have it restricted to 33bhp (this
typically costs between £50 and £150 depending on the bike, and some
manufacturers are starting to offer the restrictor kits free of charge
on certain models!). And don't forget having a restricted bike
normally saves you money on insurance anyway! Ride the bike for a couple of
years and then get it de-restricted having got used to the weight and
handling of it in the meantime.
This course is ideal for those
aged 17 - 21 or anyone who is less concerned about outright top-speed and
acceleration. A restricted bike looks and sounds the same as an unrestricted
one, and, depending on the machine, the restriction may make little difference
to its everyday performance.
Cost: £680 (includes the
CBT course, a Theory and Practical Test fee, a CD-Rom, bike
and clothing hire,
bike insurance, fuel etc)
(If you already hold a
current CBT Certificate we deduct £100 from the price!)
Location: Our CBT courses run at a site in Ashford, Kent. The remainder of the
course
takes place on the roads of Kent, riding from our offices in
Ashford, with the test normally taking
place in Folkestone.
Duration: Normally
completed over 5 Days, beginning with the CBT course.
Our Instructor to Student ratio: Maximum 1:2 on the road.

Can you tell which one is restricted to 33bhp?
