This course can be
based from Ashford, Kent, or from
Hastings, East Sussex.

125cc Standard Test (A2
or Restricted Licence)
This
is a course you take on one of our 125cc machines. Once you pass your test
this allows you to ride any size of bike provided it is limited to 33bhp for
the first two years after passing. After the two years have elapsed you can
ride any power machine without taking a further test (or even sending your
licence off!).
If you are under
21 this is the only full course open to you.

Can you tell which one is restricted to 33bhp?
This
course is ideal for those aged 17 - 21 or anyone who is less concerned about
outright top-speed and acceleration. A restricted bike looks and sounds the
same as an unrestricted one, and, depending on the machine, the restriction
may make little difference to its everyday performance.
Total Cost:
£795
(This includes the CBT, Theory Test fee, Theory Test DVD-Rom,
Practical Test fees, a Taster Session if you need it, bike hire, clothing hire, instruction, fuel, bike
insurance etc, we even provide tea and coffee!)
(If you already
have a current, valid CBT done elsewhere then we knock £100 off the course
price).
So, you could pass your test
on the same size bike that you use for your CBT and then get yourself a
'big bike' (e.g. a 600cc machine), have it restricted to 33bhp (this
typically costs between £50 and £150 depending on the bike, and some
manufacturers fit the restrictor kits free of charge
on certain models!). And don't forget having a restricted bike
normally saves you money on insurance anyway! Ride the bike for a couple
of years and then get it de-restricted having got used to the weight and
handling of it in the meantime.
Location: We
run our A2/Restricted Licence courses from Ashford,
Kent, (just a few minutes from junctions 9 or 10 of the M20), or from our site
near Hastings, East Sussex.
Duration:
Normally run in 6 sessions over 6 different days (including
test days). This course can be intensive, semi-intensive or modular
depending on your training needs and availability.
Give us a call to discuss what's best for you.
Instructor to Student ratios: Always
a maximum of 1:2 on the road.
Where to start?
If you've
never ridden before then take advantage of one of our
Taster Sessions (a 1 hour one-to-one
session with a qualified instructor), it's included in the price!
You will also need to complete a
CBT and pass a Motorcycle
Theory Test, (these can be done in either order). The total price shown
above includes the CBT and Theory Test (as well as a DVD-Rom to help you
practice for it).
(If you already
have a current, valid CBT done elsewhere then we knock £100 off the course
price).
What next?
The practical
test is in two parts, Module 1 and Module 2. You have to complete them in
order, (so you need to pass Module 1 first).
Module 1:
This consists of a series of manoeuvres that are tested at a DSA Multi
Purpose Test Site, we normally use Herne Bay or Hastings.
See our
Practical Test page for full details of the
manoeuvres.

Module 1
Training: This is run over 4 days, usually including a Saturday
and/or Sunday, the final day is
Module 1 Test Day. The aim is to grow your skills so that you are
proficient on the road and ready to learn and practice the manoeuvres needed
to pass the Module 1 test.
Module 2:
This test is a 40 minute road ride, (without many set manoeuvres as
most of these have already been tested), it does include an angle start
(pulling away from behind a parked car) and a hill-start.

Module 2
Training: This is run over 2 days. The first day is to familiarise
you with the test town, (normally Folkestone), and to refresh your riding
skills. The second day is Module 2 Test Day, with a couple of hours pre-test
training from us.
Once you have
passed Module 1 and Module 2 you have gained your restricted motorcycle
licence!
