The Theory Test
What is it?
-
It's actually
two tests in one. A 50 question multiple choice Theory Test, and a Hazard
Perception Test consisting of a collection of 14 video clips with 15
scoreable hazards. You click a computer mouse when you see a
developing hazard to which you would need to respond, for example by slowing
down or changing direction.
Do I need to take it?
-
The answer is
almost certainly - yes. Even if you have recently taken a car or LGV Theory
Test you still need to take a motorcycle one. Some of the questions may be
the same or similar, but many will relate to the type of vehicle. However, if you are
only doing a CBT course then a Theory Test
is not needed.
How do I book it then?
-
Leave it to
us. When you book up on one of our full courses we will book the Theory Test
for you, and, as part of our useful Welcome Pack we'll send you a
DVD-Rom containing all the Theory questions (and answers!) as well as
Hazard Perception video clips for you to practice.
Where is my nearest Theory Test Centre?
What should I take with me?
-
Both parts of
your driving licence, the paper counterpart and the
photocard. If you have an old-style paper-only licence the only photo-ID now
accepted is a current passport. Oh, and arrive at least 15 minutes early.
If
I am unsuccessful, what happens?
-
Most of our students, using the
DVD-Rom we supply, pass the
Motorcycle Theory Test first time. However, if you are unsuccessful telephone us straight-away, we may have another
of our pre-booked tests we can put you in for. Remember that only the first test fee is
included in your course fee with us. Currently the test costs around £31.
Then go home and practice some more
before re-taking it!
How long does my
Theory Test Pass Certificate last for?
-
It lasts for 2
years, so it makes sense to take and pass the Theory Test well before you
begin your course with us. Remember, you cannot take a
Practical Test until
you have passed the relevant Theory Test. You must pass both Module 1 and 2
Practical Tests within the two year life of your Motorcycle Theory Test or
you will need to effectively start again.
